Come to a meeting before you sign up. Bring your kid, bring nothing else, and decide later.
Visiting costs nothing, there is nothing to sign, and no one will chase you afterwards. Most families come once or twice before deciding, and no uniform is needed for your visits.
We take boys and girls in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Your child doesn't have to go to Newport Heights Elementary — our families come from across Bellevue, Newcastle, and Newport Hills.
Two bills a year, with complete financial transparency and no hidden fees.
Paid directly to Scouting America when you register online. Covers national membership, Chief Seattle Council dues, comprehensive liability insurance, and leader background checks.
Paid directly to Pack 496. Buys all adventure loops, belt buckles, Pinewood Derby car kits, Raingutter Regatta boats, the Blue & Gold banquet catering, and meeting crafts.
Your membership runs a full 12 months from the date you register (not tied to a school calendar). Join in February and you're paid through next February — no partial year penalties!
Cost is never the reason a child cannot participate in Pack 496. If fees or uniform expenses are a stretch for your family, simply whisper to our treasurer at a meeting or send a note via our contact form with "financial assistance". It is 100% confidential and handled respectfully.
Free, no paperwork, no uniform needed. Come to the Newport Heights cafeteria on the 1st or 3rd Tuesday at 6:30 PM. (Some families skip this and register online directly — also fine!).
Every pack in the country registers through Scouting America's national portal (BeAScout). Have your child's basic details and a payment card ready.
You'll receive a confirmation receipt from Scouting America, followed by a warm welcome email from our Pack 496 leadership team with the calendar and den leader intro.
