How It Works

Walk In, Sit Down, Have Fun

Every meeting is the whole pack — all the kids, Kindergarten through 5th grade, plus parents and a stray sibling or two — so a visiting family blends right in.

Walk in unannounced like most families do, or send us a quick note before you arrive and one of our volunteer parent leaders will keep an eye out for you at the cafeteria door.

Step by Step

Your First Visit, Start to Finish

Here is what a typical Tuesday evening looks like when you walk into the cafeteria.

6:20 PM • Arrival

Getting into the Cafeteria

The building is open well before we start. Coming 10 minutes early lets your child watch the room fill up and meet friendly faces instead of walking into a noisy room in mid-session. Normal school clothes are 100% fine — no uniform needed!

6:30 PM • Opening Ceremony

Flag Ceremony, Scout Oath & Law

We begin as an entire pack. The color guard presents the US flag, and Scouts recite the Scout Oath and Law (promises to be honest, helpful, and kind). Your child won't know the words, and nobody expects them to!

6:40 PM • Den Breakout Activities

Hands-On Adventures by Grade

A parent leader will help your child join the den for their specific grade level. They'll jump right into whatever that evening's activity is — building a craft, a science experiment, practicing first aid, or playing a team game. Parents can sit at the back with coffee and chat.

7:30 PM • Closing & Wrap-Up

Announcements & Head Home

Quick recognitions, closing cheer, and you're done by 7:30 PM. A parent leader will check in before you leave to answer any questions. If you want to head home and talk it over with your child, that's completely fine!

FAQ

Quick Answers for First-Timers

Yes! There are almost always siblings running around and playing in the back of the cafeteria. As long as you keep an eye on them, the entire family is welcome.

For your trial visit, we ask that you stay to experience it together. Once you join: Kindergarten (Lions) and 1st Graders (Tigers) require an adult partner to attend per national safety rules. From 2nd grade and up, you are welcome to drop off (though many parents stay and socialize!).

That is completely normal! Den leaders immediately assign a welcoming "buddy" to sit next to them. If your child prefers to just sit with you and watch the first meeting from the sidelines, they are encouraged to do whatever feels most comfortable.

You can join anytime of the year! Cub Scout adventures are modular, not sequential. Missing a meeting never puts your child behind, and there are no penalties or attendance records kept.
